Ocarina Wiki

Giorgio Pacchioni (1947-) is an Italian musician, professor, conductor, and ocarina maker.

History[]

Professor Pacchioni was born on the 16th of July, 1947[1], in Solera, Modena. Before relocating to Brazil, he was chair of recorder at Conservatorio G.B. Martini in Bologna, Italy, from 1977 to 2006.[2] He gained prominence as a reviver of Baroque compositional style.

Pacchioni organized and directs the Ensemble Novecento, a seven-piece classical ocarina group, which plays historically-accurate instruments handmade by Professor Pacchioni.[3]

Products[]

He makes a full range of ocarinas in the Budrio-style, including both historic reproductions and more modern double ocarinas.

Distinction[]

They are very traditional-looking instruments, in the natural clay color, but some also have floral painting on them. They are renowned for their in-tune playability, being instruments that only a musical master could make.
